Partnerskap, skolprestationer och ekonomiska realiteter i en territoriellt stigm
Partnership, school achievement, and economical realities in a territorially stigmatized suburban area. The Mountain school is a suburban institution with low school achievement and a bad school economy. The strategy to deal with this situation includes a partnership with the state and multicultural education. Departing from a policy sociology perspective this article will focus on the Mountain school and its’ institutional work with partnership and multicultural education. In this partnership the Mountain school has developed relationships with several institutions and participates in many different multicultural school improvement projects. Through the policy process a gap has developed between the policy of multicultural education and institutional practice. At the same time the school has become financially dependent of the state. The article also discusses problems of institutional change in a suburban area without cultural recognition and economical redistribution.
