The aim of this article is to discuss how participatory methods might contribute to research concerning the development of inclusive, socially just and community-oriented pedagogical practices within the field of early childhood education, as well as contributing to shared knowledge production about relations between kindergartens and local communities.

This article elaborates an intra-active approach to action research, with examples from a recently started action research project carried out in collaboration with three preschools.

I artikeln studeras en bildskapande aktivitet som ett exempel på undervisning i svensk förskola. Vad som utmärker denna undervisningsaktivitet och vilken estetik, i betydelsen konstsyn, som barnen socialiseras in i analyseras.

Artikeln bygger på teorier om dokumentationen som en normaliserande makt i interaktion med enskilda subjekts egna agens. Genom att lyssna till hur 19 förskolebarn mellan 4–6 år interagerar med pedagogisk fotodokumentation eftersträvas i studien att fånga barnens egna perspektiv.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the associations between social-emotional and language development in a sample of 3–5-year-old children in community-based early childhood education and care (N = 90). The results showed that language development was linked to the children’s social-emotional development and theory of mind ability.

This cross-sectional study aimed to identify individual and contextual factors associated with Swedish teachers' intention to remain in the profession. The findings showed that teachers' intention to remain in the profession is mainly explained by individual factors, predominantly by teachers’ perceived health state, work motivation and collegial support.

The development of intercultural competence is a crucial part of foreign language (FL) education, yet it remains under-explored in teaching materials and teacher education. Transnational perspectives on FL teaching, and specifically literary texts on migration and exile, may help expand teaching beyond the traditional monocultural focus and stimulate the development of intercultural competence.

The purpose of this study was to gain updated insight into what is being served in kindergartens and hand washing practices before meals. The study is based on internship assignment where total of 120 kindergarten teacher students have observed the meals in five internships between the spring of 2016 and spring of 2018.

Like underperforming companies, relationships or governments, the judgments on underperforming schools are often swift and ruthless. Underperforming school chools are frequently polarised as good or bad, and those schools that fail to hit the mark are fair game for media attention and ripe for some sort of public, external intervention.
